FIRST TIME TO THE BEACH

The other day I met up with Nolan's aunt and uncle, his auntie lives right by the beach and his uncle was home for the holidays. I know Nolan is a little young to really enjoy the beach but he is just so curious about the world I had to take him. It was a fun but short experience as it shortly became is feeding time...here are some pictures...this one is my fav.

MILKIES FOR THE MOMMIES

I came across this product or device for breastfeeding mommies called milkies milk savers. I debated for a long time if I really wanted to spend the $25 to get one, I asked myself how bad do I really wanted to save the 1 or 2oz it catches. The answer was yes! I do! I would rather try to catch what is going to come out anyway rather then pump.

I will admit when I first got the milkie in the mail I hated it, it was bulky and thick, nothing like it looks in the picture. I was about to return it when I realized I didn't read on the website that I couldn't return it. :(

So yesterday Nolan was taking was one of his longs naps when I could feel that my milk was about to come in, not wanting to wake him, I gave the milkie a shot. Bulky? Yes, Discreet? No!! Milk Saver? Yes! within like a hour or so it felt like, I was over flowing!!

I'm excited to not pump and I will have Nolan food saved for the babysitters :)

I recommend a stretchy bra and a loose shirt and for the record I will only use this at home, too much hassle to use it while breastfeeding away from home.

THE CLOTH DIAPER EXPERIENCE SO FAR

THIS MY FIRST BABY AND MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH CLOTH DIAPERS. I BOUGHT A FEW DIFFERENT BRANDS IN VARIES SIZES TO GIVE THEM ALL A TRY, SO FAR I HAVE USED THE MUMS BUMS ALL-IN-ONE AND BUM GENIUS (ONE SIZE POCKET DIAPER). MUMS BUMS ARE ALL IN ONE MEANING THERE IS NO EXTRA PIECE (THE PART THE WOULD ABSORB PEE) THAT GOES INTO IT OR SEPARATES FROM IT. THE BUM GENIUS ONE SIZE MEANING IT GROWS AS HE GROWS WITH ADJUSTABLE SNAPS. THE BUM GENIUS DOES HAVE A POCKET FOR AN INSERT.

FIRST WE TRIED THE MUMS BUMS I REALLY THOUGHT THESE WERE GOING TO BE MY FAVORITE WITH NO POCKETS FOR INSERTS AND MADE OUT OF COTTON AND BAMBOO. BAMBOO IS NATURALLY ANTIBACTERIAL, I LOVE BAMBOO! YOU CAN EAT IT, YOU CAN BUILD WITH IT, YOU CAN WEAR IT AND IT GROWS REALLY REALLY FAST AND NEEDS NO PESTICIDES DURING THE GROWING PROCESS. ANYWAYS BACK TO THE DIAPER EXPERIENCE, I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED FOR MY FIRST TRY AS LITTLE MR. POOPIE PANTS SOAKED THROUGH THE DIAPER, HE WAS WEARING THE DIAPER FOR ABOUT 3-4 HRS, HE WAS SLEEPING SO I WAS ABOUT TO LET HIM GO LONGER, GLAD I DIDN'T. THE SHELL WASN'T REALLY WET BUT IT LEAKED OUT THE BACK TO HIS CLOTHES AT THE TOP BACK OF THE DIAPER. NO POOP THIS TIME, THANK JEEBUS. I WILL SAY THIS I AM GOING TO GIVE THEM ANOTHER TRY, NOT GOING TO LET THEM WIN!!





SECOND TRY WITH THE BUM GENIUS THIS TIME. THESE GUYS CAME WITH A SECOND INSERT FOR MORE ABSORPTION BUT IT MADE THE DIAPER WAY TO THICK TO GET HIS ONESIE BACK ON SO I LEFT IT OUT THIS TIME. THESE ONES HE DID POOP IN SO I DIDN'T LET HIM GO AS LONG IN THEM....BUT NOTHING LEAKED OUT! YAY! I DIDN'T GET A HOSE ATTACHMENT THAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR GETTING THE POOP OFF AND INTO THE TOILET SO I JUST USED A SPRAY BOTTLE (IT WASN'T A VERY BIG POOP) THIS WAS A MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE!

I'M JUST GOING TO KEEP TRYING UNTIL I GET A GOOD SYSTEM DOWN!

I BOUGHT A SLING SO I CAN BE A LITTLE MORE HANDS FREE...I SPOIL THIS KID. I used a effect of the second part of the video called "aged film" that's why it may look a little grainy. I wish I could upload a higher quality video the effects would look much better.

HE'S HERE HE'S HERE!!

NOLAN JAMES-LEE GLASSCO WAS BORN ON AUGUST 27TH 2009 @ 2:58AM HE WAS 8LBS 9OZ'S AND 20IN LONG.

I HAD A FAIRLY EASY BIRTH MY WATER BROKE JUST AS WE WERE GETTING READY TO GO THE HOSPITAL AROUND 10PM SO I THINK THAT HELP SPEED THINGS UP. MY LABOR WENT AS CLOSE TO PLAN AS I COULD HOPE, I PASSED ON THE EPIDURAL JUST GOT ONE SHOT OF NUBAIN (PAIN MED THAT GOES IN THE IV) NUBAIN WAS REALLY MILD BUT HELPED ME RELAX A LITTLE IN BETWEEN CONTRACTIONS BEFORE DELIVERY.

THEY SAY SOME FIRST TIME MOMS WILL HAVE TO PUSH FOR A FEW HOURS BUT NOT ME I THINK IT WAS ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR, THOUGH IT FELT MUCH SHORTER THEN THAT. THERE WAS ONE SMALL HANG UP WHEN BABY WAS READY TO COME OUT THE DOCTOR WASN'T IN THE ROOM YET AND I HAD TO STOP PUSHING...STOP PUSHING!!!! THAT WAS REALLY REALLY HARD AND THAT'S WHEN TIME SEEMED TO SLOW DOWN TO A CRAWL.

AFTER HE CAME OUT THE DOCTOR PLACED HIM ON MY TUMMY AND THE THE JOY YOU FEEL AFTER LOOKING INTO THOSE LITTLE EYES FOR THE FIRST TIME IS JUST UNEXPLAINABLE, HE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!

Due date WAS Aug 21st

So today is Aug 24th and we are still waiting for baby to make his way into the world. I go in Friday for another follow up and possibly a stress test to check baby and the fluids. Really hoping he comes out before that!

2ND BABY SHOWER

I had two baby showers this one was more mellow for the great grandma's, here are some pictures.

IN THE LAST MONTH

I am now in the last month, nursery is ready to go, I'm getting my bag packed and feel as large as a whale. I haven't encountered any problems thus far and pray everything goes according to my birth plan, also praying for a very health baby boy. Though the closer we get the further from picking out a name we are, part of me just really wants to meet him first.

What is funny is there are bets going around on when I will delivery and no one thinks I'm going to make it to by due date of August 21st, I think the latest is August 15th. Which I think so so weird cause they say your first is usually late but hey maybe these people know something I don't or maybe they feel I just can't get much bigger.

33 WEEKS TODAY!!!

OH THE TIME IS FLYING NOW AND SOMETIMES I THINK THE BABY KNOWS IT CAUSE IT FEELS LIKE HE IS TRYING TO KICK HIS WAY OUT.

YAY SO NO GESTATIONAL DIABETES FOR ME! MY SECOND GLUCOSE LEVELS CAME BACK NORMAL :)

WE ARE ON OUR SECOND BIRTH PREP CLASS WHICH EVEN THOUGH YOU THINK YOU KNOW THIS STUFF (LIKE HOW TO BREATH) IT REALLY DOES HELP TO HAVE IT DRILLED IN. IT'S REALLY HELPING ADAM PREPARE FOR WHAT A MONSTER I CAN BECOME LOL. WE HAVE TWO MORE BIRTH PREP CLASSES THEN WE MOVE ONTO BABY CARE BASICS AND BABY SAFETY.

THIS IS THE LAST WEEKEND BEFORE THE BABY SHOWER AND THE NEW DECKS ARE ALMOST DONE, THEN WE CAN REALLY START CLEANING UP THE BACKYARD. OH I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE PILES OF WOOD TO BE GONE!

THE BABY IS DOING GOOD KICKING A LOT, MOSTLY AT MY RIB CAGE. WE HAVE DECIDED THAT THE NAME IS GOING TO BE A SURPRISE TILL HE IS BORN
